"Our people are often thought of as brutes, barbarians, and mindless warriors. Let them think that. It makes it all the easier to take advantage of them."
― Alex Draconis

Alex Draconis (assumed alias) is the current Quaestor of the House Qel-Droma. He was the former Aedile of House Qel-Droma, former Rollmaster of House Qel-Droma, former Krath Tetrarch of Loreseekers Phyle, and former Captain of the Voidbreaker II.

Physical Description

Alex is a tall human with a broad-shouldered, lithely muscled build. Close-cropped medium-dark brown hair - with slight streaks of silvery gray at the temples - meet along the edges of an angular but not harsh face with a neatly trimmed beard. Green eyes with slight flecks of yellow are set deep beneath a prominent brow. Gently tanned skin - impossible to tell if from natural pigmentation or just a hard-lived life - displays the slight freckling and wrinkling of age. A faded, still-visible scar stretches from just above his left cheekbone angled down and back to just before the edge of his jaw.

Style

Alex dresses most commonly in a suit of matte black Mandalorian Rally Master armor with silver and gold trim. Anybody with a degree of familiarity with Mandalorian armor would be able to tell that not only is the armor maintained in impeccable condition but also, confusingly, the color and trim seem to be all of the original make.

When not fully armored - he always wears at least the bracers of his armor, in order to honor the ‘’Resol’nare’’ - Alex wears well-tailored and high-quality clothing as befits his station as landed nobility. He tends toward brocaded tunics in rich burgundies and deep blues, with trim in either silver or gold similar to his armor. He prefers loose pants and practical though still well-designed boots, allowing for ready, easy movement. Despite dressing in some degree of finery, it is clear that at his core he is still a man of action.

Personality

For the most part, Alex Draconis is easygoing and carefree. He tends to take things in stride and doesn’t let a whole lot get to him. That is not to say, however, that he is not serious. He puts himself whole-heartedly into any activity he undertakes whether that be a bare-handed fight to the death or racing remote-controlled toy speeders. To Alex, anything worth doing is worth doing 110%.

Property

Alex maintains a fairly extensive stable of properties (including ships, buildings, and even a couple space stations), mostly located in the abandoned Lyarna system. The vast majority of these properties are effectively defunct, being maintained in a non-operational state by droids while Alex determines what best to do with them. A few of these properties have been brought to a more operational state for Alex's current use.

Herald of Entropy

The Herald of Entropy is a Kestrel Light Executive Transport that Alex had specifically modified to function more as a mobile penthouse apartment than a standard transport ship. Converting and combining three of the four suites normally set up for individual passengers into a single large apartment, with the fourth being reserved for Steven, Alex has set up a significant amount of luxury within a relatively small space.

The apartment features a full-size kitchen, a small home gym setup, a den complete with Holonet entertainment system, and a modest bedroom mostly dominated by a large, plush bed.

Hod Haran's Folly

Main article: Hod Haran's Folly

At great personal expense Alex had one of his space stations brought from the Lyarna system to the Dajorra system, and put into orbit around the beautiful moon of Gethsemane in order to give the station a pleasant view.

While the station's original purpose was serving solely as Alex's noble estate, it has been reconstructed and repurposed - even being renamed to Hod Haran's Folly - as an all-access resort, casino, and entertainment destination. Alex still maintains a small manor home and attached environs on the highest level of the station, but the rest of the station has been given over to hotels, casinos, concert venues, parks, nightclubs, restaurants, and various and sundry other businesses all focused on luxury and leisure.

While the station overall still belongs to Alex, he offers more-than-generous leasing agreements for people to operate their business ventures, since he certainly doesn't need to use the station to make money.

Droids

Steven

Steven is Alex’s put-upon droid valet. Originally a KX Enforcer droid, the majority of Steven’s programming was rewritten to work as an assistant, attendant, and advisor to Alex. He helps maintain the orderly state of Alex’s home-away-from-home ship, the ‘’Herald of Entropy’’ as well as handles the day-to-day paperwork of keeping the estate running. In practice, he also acts as somewhat of a bodyguard for Alex - though rarely necessary - as some aspects of his combat and security programming were retained.

For his part, Alex views Steven as a friend and companion, never once even occurring to him to think of the droid as less - either for his role and responsibilities or for his non-organic life status. Steven is provided his own quarters aboard Alex’s ship to do with as he wishes, is paid a fair wage for his services, and is provided with a full wardrobe of high-quality clothing - custom tailored to fit his lanky proportions - to choose from.

Biographical History

(Editor’s Note: All information contained in this section is as reported by Alex himself. We could find no substantive evidence to support any claims prior to his joining the Bounty Hunter’s Guild, and their official records of his past match up with his claims although also without any evidence. Records of the periods in question are unreliable at best, so anything prior to the beginning of official records should be viewed with scrutiny. It is our professional opinion that he is lying.)

Early life

Alex was born to a pair of respected Clan warriors on Mandalore shortly before the beginning of the Mandalorian Wars. He was raised and trained in the traditions of the Mandalorian Crusaders, and began taking part in raids and small skirmish battles at as young an age as 10. It quickly became evident that while he was a capable warrior in his own right, his true ability lay in the charisma to inspire others to follow his lead. Even if he were not always the most competent at determining the best course of action, those he was in command of would follow his orders with loyalty and conviction. By the time he was 20, he had already been appointed as a Rally Master among the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders and would lead his troops on many successful outings during the war to come.

Mandalorian Wars

As tensions rose between the Mandalorian clans and the Galactic Republic, fueled by ever-increasing raids by the Mandalorians into Republic territory, it quickly became obvious that war was inevitable. Alex became a full-fledged warrior of the Neo-Crusaders a few years into what is commonly regarded as the early parts of the Mandalorian Wars, taking part in raids and assaults conquering systems in Hutt Space. Though by no means the most talented warrior on the battlefield, he did manage to distinguish himself in a number of combat situations by getting himself and his squadmates out of situations that seemed all but hopeless.

Alex slowly climbed up the ranks, initially put in charge of a 5-man squad. Inspiring a great deal of loyalty and respect from his squad, they became notable and frequently called upon to use as a quick and effective strike team before major battles. Alex and his squad became highly proficient at interrupting supply lines and delivering intelligence to the main battle force regarding enemy force deployment. Their continued success and value to the Neo-Crusaders led to Alex being appointed to the rank of a Rally Master shortly before the Battle of Vanquo.

His first opportunity in a significant leadership role among the Neo-Crusaders thus took place at the first major battle of the Wars. While the Mandalorians emerged victorious from the battle and many of the warriors under Alex’s command comported themselves with great honor and bravery, he saw many more fall on the battlefield. One of the warriors who had been part of his squad from the earliest days, a friend and close companion for nearly a decade, was torn to shreds in his starfighter right in front of Alex. The battle had been won, but the start of a heavy weight on Alex’s soul had begun.

Over the next several years, Alex took part in many of the battles of the Mandalorian Wars, but each time became more and more disillusioned with the costs of war. By the time the war ended - with the horrific activation of the Mass Shadow Generator at Malachor V - Alex was more than happy to retire from the life of a soldier. He still had pride as a Mandalorian in their culture and their ways, but had seen too often first-hand the costs of waging endless war for conquest. It was no longer a pursuit he could see himself involved in.

After the war, word grew among the surviving Mandalorians of one warrior called Canderous Ordo who was seeking the lost Mask of Mandalore. This search was slowly reuniting the Clans to a common cause, but Alex saw a significant risk in this pursuit. The Clans were still scattered and weak, and if anyone were to see this unification as a threat it would be easy to wipe out what remained of the Mandalorians. While in his heart Alex hoped for Ordo’s success, he decided upon a course of action to ensure that even if the search were to end in disaster the legacy of the Mandalorians would endure. He took up a suit of black armor with silver and gold trim - colors symbolizing the honored dead and their hard-earned glory - and declared himself Cabur’bdar’asuum (Guardian of the Eternal). He sent word to Ordo that should all else fail, Alex would bear the memory of all those who “marched far away”. He departed for the far reaches of the Unknown Regions to make certain that even should a hunt to eliminate the Mandalorians be brought about, he and his prayers for the memory of the fallen would be impossible to find.

The Bounty Hunter's Guild

Thousands of years later, Alex emerged from the Unknown Regions seemingly having only aged a decade or two. Alex has offered many explanations for this phenomenon over the years, none of which have held up under scrutiny. What is certain is that shortly after the Battle of Yavin, Alex (using another assumed alias of “Bograt”) joined an organization known as the Bounty Hunter’s Guild which operated under the authority of an Imperial remnant called the Emperor’s Hammer. Alex’s quick wit and easy charm soon made him a popular and well-known member of the Guild. After a few years of service, Alex found himself counted among the esteemed leadership of the Guild - as well as being granted land and a noble title in the Lyarna system owned by the Guild. He maintained a noble estate of a space station around one of the planets of the system, as well as stewardship and ownership of many other locations around the system.

When the Guild severed their ties from the Emperor’s Hammer and began operating under their own authority, Alex along with many other prominent members began seeking membership and allyship with other independent organizations. Though not Force-sensitive to the best of his knowledge (“I just have good instincts”), Alex joined the Dark Brotherhood both in a show of solidarity and to investigate what the two organizations could offer each other.

The Brotherhood

After joining the Brotherhood following the Exodus, Alex earned notice and accolades for his high skill and activity. Within just two months he was promoted to the leader of the Loreseekers Phyle, and soon after to the Rollmaster and subsequently Aedile of House Qel-Droma. While still not aware of his own ability in the Force, those around him recognized that he had a clear talent. He was elevated to the rank of Knight merely six months after joining the Brotherhood, but unfortunately this fast pace of success was to face a severe challenge.

Things had begun to fall apart in the Bounty Hunter’s Guild and Alex, feeling a sense of loyalty and duty to the organization, retreated from active service in the Brotherhood to attempt as best he could to forestall the collapse. When it proved inevitable that the Guild would disband, Alex took another burden of vigil on to his back and decided to stand steward over the abandoned Lyarna system in memory of his comrades who had scattered to the edges of the galaxy. In 13 ABY, Alex once again vanished from the public eye.

Decades later, in 42 ABY, Alex discovered a long discarded and forgotten datapad underneath a pile of food containers at his estate. It contained the details of his membership in the Dark Brotherhood and, curiously, seemed to indicate that those records were still active. Unable to resist the draw of curiosity, Alex boarded the most fully-functional ship he possessed and headed back into the galaxy at large.
