Virulence Saj Bezatyne is a Sith Warrior serving the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, more specifically Clan Plagueis and House Exar Kun. Born Saj Bezatyne on the backwater planet of Barab I, he was banished after killing another Barabel in a training exercise. He then adopted the name Virulence, and started life anew as an assasin. He worked for a while, but eventually found the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, and was adopted into Imperial House Isradia. He has recently dropped the Isradia surname due to personal reasons, but still serves the interest of the Imperial House as a Bondsman.

Character History
Virulence Rising
Virulence was born Saj Bezatyne on the harsh world of Barab I, somewhere around 3-5 BBY. The Bezatyne Clan was a small one, but held cosiderable power among the Barabel Clans due to their inherent connection with the Force, an attribute rarely seen in the Barabel species. Saj’s childhood was one of strict discipline and constant training. The Bezatyne Clan were legendary hunters, and Saj proved to be no exception, showing incredible tracking skills at a very young age. Around the age of 10, Saj and his siblings were on a routine training hunt with their father when they were ambushed by a group of Bounty Hunters. The Bezatyne Elder was slain, but the three younglings, Saj, Kazic, and Kaiya, were abducted, and sold into slavery to the Hutts. While Saj and his brother Kazic were thrown into harsh combat training as gladiators for the Hutt's entertainment, their sister, Kaiya, was shipped off elsewhere; her whereabouts remain unknown to this day.

Over the next several years, Saj and Kazic quickly gained reputations as extraordinarily vicious and skilled fighters, defeating everything the Hutt’s threw at them in the arena, and eventually the cruel Hutts forced them to face each other in combat. Reluctantly, the brothers engaged in a sickening display of savage ferocity , and after almost an hour of all-out brutality, Saj prevailed. In the end however, Saj could not bring himself to end his brother’s life, and knelt before the Hutts in a plea to spare Kazic. The Hutts in turn, promptly executed Kazic on the spot, and spent the next 6 weeks torturing Saj repeatedly for his insolence, driving the young reptile to the brink of insanity.

Just as the Hutts were about to torture Saj to death, their complex was infiltrated by a small band of maverick Jedi led by the Barabel Saba Sebatyne. Saba freed Saj, along with the rest of the Hutt’s Barabel slaves, returning all but Saj to their home world of Barab I.

Upon rescuing Saj, Saba immediately sensed his innate abilities, and began his training in the use of the force, along side her son Tesar, and the Hara Sisters. It wasn't long however before Saj's dark tendencies and mental instabilities began to surface, and Saba herself began to second guess her decision to train him. Eventually, Saj snapped, losing his temper in a training exercise with another student, and killing the young Barabel in a fit of uncontrolled rage. Saba responded by using a Jedi technique intended to erase Saj's short-term memory, and therefore his Force-training, however she only succeeded in burying most of it, along with his identity, deep in his subconscious.

Banished from Barab I for his crime, with no recollection of who he was, Saj adopted the name Virulence, and made his way across the galaxy, using his training to land work as the occasional Mercenary or Assassin, all the while being guided by a force he could not explain.

Into the Void
Virulence spent several years working exclusively for a wealthy land owner and politician in the Hapan Cluster, accumulating vast amounts of money eliminating enemies and political rivals at his whim, which the reptile used to purchase and customize his Miy’Til Starfighter, which he named The Virus. Though he was making huge sums of money, and gaining a reputation as one of the Galaxy’s most efficient killers, the Barabel was becoming restless, and he eventually accepted a contract which took him across the galaxy in pursuit of a target to the surface of Yavin IV. After eliminating the mark deep in the planet’s dense jungles, Virulence heard a sound he did not remember hearing before, yet instantly knew what it signified, the sound of dueling lightsabers. He followed the sound over a ridge where he witnessed a pair of Dark Jedi dueling on top of an ancient Massassi temple. The spectacle awakened something deep within the reptile, and he found himself compelled to follow the victor of the duel into the Acaar System, to the planet Elysian, home of House Ziost of Clan Exar Kun.

The Dark Jedi of Exar Kun detected Virulence as soon as he entered the system, and captured the reptile as soon as he set down on Elysian. Upon examination however, Quaestor Numaril Asfågeln immediately sensed the Barabel's potential, and with the blessing of his Consul, Grand Master Emeritus Chi-Long, initiated the Barabel into the Clan of Exar Kun.

Virulence began to rise quickly within the ranks of Ziost, making a name for himself among his fellow Dark Jedi in the Brotherhood’s Independence Games, and attracting the attention of his future Master, Lucien Isradia. Under Lucien’s tutelage,Virulence joined the Krath Order, submersing himself in ancient tomes of Dark Side history and regaining his memory through Krath Magic and Dark Meditation. Virulence became Virulence Saj Bezatyne, a combination of the cunning warrior he was, and the ruthless killer he had become.

A Hard Lesson
As the Clans of Exar Kun and Satal Keto were merged to form Clan Plagueis, House Ziost became House Exar Kun, and abandoned it’s former home on Elysian to take up residence in Castle Frost, home of the Clan Summit on the frozen world of Byfrost. Virulence spent hours on end in the Clan Archives, pouring over ancient texts and data files, soaking up everything he could about the Dark Arts. Soon after, Virulence finally reached the rank of Dark Jedi Knight, and began taking leadership roles within the Clan.

Virulence served as Envoy and Rollmaster for House Bane, increasing the House’s activity in the lower ranks substantially, until he was called on by Warhunter to serve as his Aedile in House Satal Keto. Virulence fit right in to his new position, and though serving under three different Quaestors, Warhunter, Arso Slyth, and Aerick Isradia, proved to be a capable and stable Aedile, keeping morale and activity levels high. Upon the sudden departure of Plagueis’ Consul, Grand Master Chi-Long, Virulence’s Master, Lucien Isradia, became the next Consul, and quickly wanted to bring his young apprentice into the Clan Summit as his Proconsul. Virulence was honored his Master had such faith in his abilities, however he had concerns as to his lack of experience in a Clan leadership role, and voiced these concerns to his Master. Lucien assured his Apprentice that he would be there to guide and teach the young Knight, and Virulence accepted, and poured all of his resources into rebuilding the Clan’s mainframe and heading several projects Lucien had thrown into his lap. Before the reptile could make any real progress however, Lucien disappeared to parts unknown, leaving his young and inexperienced Apprentice to run damage control on a restless Clan on the brink of revolt. Virulence quickly realized he did not have the experience to quell the uprising, and after consulting his closest advisors, stepped down from the office of Proconsul, and petitioned the Dark Council to step in and take control.

Deputy Grand Master Kir Katarn responded immediately, and after being debriefed on the situation by the reptile, took control of the Clan as acting Consul, appointing DJM Aristan “Sarin” Dantes as his Proconsul. Virulence went back to the House of Exar Kun, and assisted Quaestor Godo Nurok in the rebuilding of the House and Clan. When Plagueis was forced to evacuate the Acaar system on account of its sun going supernova, Virulence was one of the few sent to the Clan’s prospective home, the Jusadih system, to oversee the construction of Diedem Fortress, which Scorpius designed as the new home of House Exar Kun, deep in the Decarian Jungles of Aerun.

Abomination Unleashed
As Lucien’s Apprentice, the Barabel had accompanied his Master to the planet Vardor, in the Nox system, home of Imperial House Isradia several times. The first time he laid eyes on the magnificent city of Urd Nathen, Virulence knew his path would one day lead him back to Vardor.

Upon reaching the rank of Dark Jedi Knight, the reptile approached Clan Plagueis’ Loremaster, Dark Adept Jonaleth Isradia, Grand Duke of Vardor, and pledged his life and loyalty to the Imperial House Isradia. Believing the reptile to be “The Abomination” mentioned in an ancient Vardorin prophecy, The Grand Duke accepted the reptile’s pledge, naming him Margrave Virulence Bezatyne Isradia, and made him Panarch of the coastal city of Gar Thesalin, which had recently been thrown into a state of leaderless chaos and unrest. Virulence quickly took control of the breathtaking city, despite the populace’s natural xenophobic tendencies, and brought about a time of great prosperity to the rain soaked coastal city. The residents of Gar Thesalin in turn fully support and are fiercely loyal to Virulence and the Imperial House, and Adept Isradia rewarded the reptile by naming him Earl, and eventually Viscount of Imperial House Isradia. When his city was running smoothly, Virulence then had time to devote to his studies once more, and began to delve into the dark Vardorin Tradition known as the Ninth Order. Before he could get far however, he was once again called back into service by his House and Clan, as the Sixth Great Jedi War had begun with the emergence of two Grand Masters. Virulence fought viciously along side his dark brethren, proving himself a major factor in at least three separate battles. At the end of the Sixth Great Jedi War, Virulence suddenly left Clan Plagueis once more, and officially went rogue, but not before receiving an elevation to the rank of Krath Priest for his efforts in the war.

Virulence returned to Gar Thesalin briefly, only to make certain the local govenment was stable before approaching Jonaleth and asking permission for an extended leave of absence. The Grand Duke granted his request, keeping a place for him as Bondsman of Tol Rothan until which time the reptile decided to return. Virulence then disappeared into the unknown regions for several years, moving away from the mystical traditions of the Krath order, and re-embracing the teachings of the Sith, unaware of the arrival of the Vong and the widescale damage inflicted by their invasion. After returning to the Antei system only to find it devastated and deserted, the Sith tracked down the location of his comrades in House Exar Kun and is currently preparing to exact his revenge on the Vong for their atrocities against his House and Clan, fueled by his own anger over his absence during their invasion.

The Virus
On Notice

Virulence acquired this Miy’til starfighter while working for a man in the Hapan Cluster, just before discovering the Brotherhood, and has spent a considerable amount of time, and a small fortune upgrading certain aspects of the ship to the specifications of Prince Isolder’s legendary Storm.

Each wing is tipped with an ion cannon, and the nose holds a set of triple-linked laser cannons and a mini-concussion missile-launcher with bay of ten missiles. The Virus employs an R2 astromech droid to assist with in-flight operations and navigation. The four Incom 6X4 fusial thrust engines have been rebuilt with modified Tykannin class-4 power converters to give the ship the sub-light speed of a Tie Interceptor, and the ship is equipped with four banks of nordoxicon 38 anti-concussion field generators. Virulence uses The Virus strictly for personal transportation, or in emergency situations, otherwise the ship remains docked in Diadem Fortress.

At the end of the Sixth Great Jedi War, Virulence suddenly left Clan Plagueis once more, and officially went rouge, but not before receiving an elevation to the rank of Krath Priest for his efforts in the war. Virulence returned to Gar Thesalin to pursue his studies in the Ninth Order, and though he has not been seen in Brotherhood space for some time, keeps a close eye on his friends from afar.

History
Satal Keto
Son of Lord Keto and Lady Magda Keto, Satal was born into worlds of power with wealth and time at his command. He and his cousin, Aleema Keto, were schooled in the teachings of the Sith Empire which, years later, would lead them into creating the secret society known as the Krath. A Dark order who sought after the knowledge of ancient Sith teachings, some who trained many years with the Krath would gain powers of visions of the future and the past.

On a trip to the Galactic Museum on Coruscant, the two stole a book on Sith lore, and proving to be without the ability to read the text, the two went in search of a number of Dark Side Adepts they heard were living on the planet Onderon.

Later, they arrived on Onderon to find that a Republic force, under the Jedi Nomi Sunrider, had arrived, starting a massive battle between the combined Jedi-Republic force and the Naddists. Their ship was shot down, and crashed in the capital city of Iziz, where they were brought before King Ommin, the leader of the Naddists and a descendant of the Dark Lord Freedon Nadd.

Before long, they discovered the secrets of the book. With Onderon under attack and Jedi Master Arca Jeth under the Iron fist of the Dark Lord’s descendant King Ommin, he gave Satal Keto a Sith amulet, which would allow the user to read the ancient Sith text.

When the amulet was used, the Dark Lord Freedon Nadd himself would appear and teach the words of the book. Satal Keto learned many things of the Force from the incantations of the book, while Aleema learned that she had the ability to create illusions in others’ minds.

The Beginning
With the city falling, Freedon Nadd knew of King Ommin’s failure and convinced Satal and Aleema that they alone held the key to restore the Sith Empire through his guidance. The pair fled, and Jedi stormed the palace, with the King being slain by Ulic Qel-Droma. With their new knowledge the siblings returned to their home world of Empress Teta.

It wasn’t long after their return that Aleema used her new powers of Illusion to overthrow the leaders of Empress Teta. With the two Krath proclaiming themselves as self-appointed leaders, the people of Empress Teta started a rebellion and called on the Jedi for help. Soon, a joint Jedi-Republic fleet, under the Jedi Nomi Sunrider and Ulic Qel-Droma, was sent to deal with the Krath. However, during the Battle of Koros Major, Aleema used her powers to create illusions of space grazers to fool the task force.

Afterward, Satal and Aleema used Krath War Droids to attack a Jedi assembly on Deneba. Prior to this, their agents had reprogrammed the servant droids that would be present at the assembly. During the assembly, the servant droids suddenly attacked their Jedi owners, causing enough confusion to allow a Tetan Corsair to deposit its deadly cargo of war droids. During the assault, Jedi Master Arca Jeth was slain and his student Ulic Qel-Droma swore revenge on the Krath.

The Fall of Satal Keto
Satal Keto would later infiltrate the capital world of the Empress Teta system, Koros Major. Following a skirmish on Koros Major, in which Ulic saved Aleema from being assassinated, she took him as a lover. However, Satal was jealous and suspicious, believing him to be a Jedi spy. He then interrogated and tortured Ulic deep in the dungeons of the Iron Citadel. Despite denying he was a Jedi spy, Satal injected Ulic with a Sith toxin that would ensure his fall to the Dark Side.

Ulic became a Krath general, in charge of the sect's military forces, and the personal pet of Aleema. Months later, Ulic's Jedi companions (including his brother Cay Qel-Droma, Nomi and Tott Doneeta) traveled to Cinnagar after hearing no word from Ulic. While Cay and Tott Doneeta waited in orbit on their transport, the Nebulon Ranger, Nomi infiltrated the planet by flying down in an escape pod. Upon landing, she arranged for herself to be arrested by the Krath authorities. When Sunrider was dragged before the Krath leadership at the Iron Citadel, Satal tested Ulic's loyalty by asking him what to do with the captured Jedi spy. Ulic, trying to maintain his cover, ordered his former comrade Sunrider to be imprisoned. However, in secret, Ulic sent a covert message to Nomi in which he expressed to her that he intended to stay in disguise for a while longer, in an effort to learn more of the Krath's plans. Unfortunately for Ulic, Satal intercepted his conversation with Nomi, and sentenced them both to death.

However, Nomi managed to contact Cay and Tott Doneeta and requested that they attempt a rescue. Destroying the Krath's defenses, the Jedi succeeded in pulling Nomi from her captivity, but Ulic decided to stay behind. In a fit of rage, Ulic struck Satal Keto down, demanding vengeance for the death of Arca Jeth and completing his descent to the Dark Side. Ulic then took Satal's place at Aleema's side as the head of the Krath.

Satal’s Spirt
Even with his body gone his spirt lived on through the Force in a tailsman forged thousands of years ago. From this artifact, Keto’s spirit lives on, sealing himself and the talisman away for thousands of years, all the while exploring the ways of the Krath and seeing the possible futures.

Here he saw his opportunity for life. He found a mind focused on the ancient magics, a mind suitable for his plans. Reaching out through the Force to that mind he used his power to draw that dabbler in the ancient magics to the resting place of the talisman he was trapped in. This dabbling Dark Jedi picked up the talisman and became the first High Priest of the Krath in four-thousand years. This was four thousand years ago, and the Jedi were many and spread across the galaxy. The Dark Jedi who found the talisman was possessed by Satal Keto; in effect Keto was restored to life in a new body.

The Dark Jedi was the son of the wealthy elite in the Empress Teta system, a group made rich by the carbonite mines which provided the galaxy’s main supply of the highly prized material. He and many of his friends, with nothing to do and the ability to satisfy their every desire had become bored and started dabbling in primitive magic. It was this that opened his mind to the Krath and allowed the spirit of Satal Keto to draw him to the talisman. Once possessed by Keto, this Dark Jedi became vastly more powerful, no longer the petty magician he was before, but a fully fledged Dark Jedi Master with immeasurable powers.

Satal Keto, in his new body, returned to his home in Empress Teta and soon drew his rich friends into the Krath’s powers and they all became powerful. Their group was known as the Obsidian Order as well as the Order of Krath and its influence began to spread rapidly, drawing many Dark Side followers.

The Birth of Clan Satal Keto
Through the ages the talisman was lost. It was found again by a follower of the Krath. This follower was one who walked with Ronin the once-leader who made the Dark Jedi Brotherhood after the fall of the empire. As the Brotherhood grew so did the powers within the follower and one day Ronin gave him a new title one which was not used for thousands of years: “Krath High Priest”. With more and more Dark Jedi coming into the Brotherhood, more followers came to the order of the Krath and finally the High priest was summoned to Ronin to create their own Clan, one that could take on the role of a Krath more seriously in the brotherhood. Thus, Clan Satal Keto was born.

The War and The End of Clan Satal Keto
The reign of CSK went on for more then seven standard years with numerous CON’s and PCON’s until it came to CON Selket. The life of the Krath began to slowly decrease over the years and the Dark Council went into a feud against the so called ‘Chosen one’, Ronin. Then the Dark Brotherhood sought to stop being ruled as the Empire once was, they knew if they did the end result would always be the same…extinction.

“The War of the two Brotherhoods” and the following onslaught “The Crimson Tide”, called by some, rose through the ranks of every Jedi who had taken a side either with Ronin or the Grand Master of the true Dark Brotherhood, Firefox. The war was fierce and the numbers had shown this. Two clans were affected more then the others in the war; Clan Exar Kun and Clan Satal Keto. Though not all of the members of CSK could be there for the fight they did their best but the end result was the death of their CON Selket. The Clan soon fell apart after the war and rumors spread that so had Exar Kun. The new Dark Council assembled in the new Star Chamber took charge and a single Elder stood tall, his name was Chi Long.

Chi took command and forged the two clans into one calling it the “Dictum of Two Skies” and naming the clan “Plagueis” after his teachings of cheating death. The Clan took its members and split them into two houses: “House Satal Keto” and “House Exar Kun”. These actions rippled through the Force calling out the four Elders of the clan to the old Sith Lord Plagueis who listened to their story of the war and soon gave his blessing upon the clan and his wisdom. Thus, House Satal Keto was born from the ashes of former clan.

The Sixth Great Jedi War
For HSK, and Plagueis herself, the Sixth Great Jedi War was an utter disaster. Bitter division once again split the Brotherhood into two warring parties: one Red, one Blue. Like the wars before it, this one served to fracture the organization further still as well as draining away what confidence its members had left in those who prosecuted the war.

Unsure of what they were fighting for, the House and Clan’s morale broke under the weight of constant battle. Apathy set in like a plague amongst the membership bringing the Plagueian war machine to a grinding halt. Though HSK was possessed of a few individuals that battled on under the shattered Plagueian mantle, defeat was imminent.

As the dust settled after three long months of conflict, House Satal Keto lay in shambles amid the ruins of the Clan. Both House and Clan would need time to reassess, rearm, and rebuild. New vision was needed to light the way from the dust-choked rubble of war, to a House re-forged from the ashes.

The Unseen Eye
After the return of the former Ketoan, Silent, who had come back after years of searching in the unknown regions of the galaxy, he found it his home no more and learned of the past events and took up an oath to avenge his former CON’s death and to help the younger members reclaim some of the lost powers of the Clan Satal Keto. This young Clawdite, born into the Krath, but turned Obelisk after his CON’s death, rose through the House reclaiming his old office of Aedile, then on to Quaestor. From there he ruled his House with an Iron fist, keeping tabs on his House planet of Morroth.

It wasn’t long after he reached QUA status that the visions he once had as a child returned to him. He would always remember the words of his former Master regarding the visions: “In the light you can always find your way, that will make you weak; In the dark you must trust your self, trust your strength, trust your skill, and let the force guide you, if you do so then you will only become stronger.” Silent took the words to heart and saw it was time to follow his vision to a continent on his House planet.

Annwfn is a forbidden land on Morroth but it was where the Visions lead him and his AED Raken. Upon his arrival, just like in his vision, he touched the small stone lying in the middle of the snow capped forest and from it rose a grand temple. Silent told Raken to summon their forces and keep outsiders away. Then the two entered the Temple with sabers ignited. Once they reached the center, Silent found a Sith holocron and an inscription:

“Tell me what you regard as your greatest strength, so I will know how best to undermine you; tell me of your greatest fear, so I will know which I must force you to face; tell me what you cherish most, so I will know what to take from you; and tell me what you crave, so that I might deny you…”

From that moment on a light of crimson shot forth and the body of Silent was taken by a Dark Sith Lord… Lord Plagueis. Reinforcements arrived some time later to the shock of their Quaestor possessed. With the Lord Plagueis who once gave his blessing and wisdom to the Clan, he now challenged them to prove their worth and save Silent, and thus the House members took the challenge and entered the tomb…

Fierce fighting ensued, but the House fought as if one hand was bound behind their back. To defeat the ire of Plagueis was to kill their beloved Queastor. Try though they did, the assembled Ketoans were unable to recover their Quaestor from the grip of the dark lord. Many Journeymen succumbed to madness at the exposure to such power as that of Plagueis’ magnitude. The Ketoan Quaestor, himself an Equite, finally fell broken mentally and physically from the ordeal of the possession.

Barely alive, the surviving Ketoans brought him from the temple battleground to the medical facilities of Alpha Base. There he convalesced for a time until his strength returned. What did not return, however, was his desire to rule and seek more power. Like all bright stars, they eventually glimmer then fade. So too did Silent, Quaestor of House Satal Keto, recede into darkness.

The Forge of Pain
In order to grow stronger, all things must learn through pain. So too it is for House Satal Keto. Following the war and the incident of The Unseen Eye, the House has been reshaped into a hungrier, leaner entity than it was before. Gone are those who fled in shame to leave the House to the mercy of the other Clans. Failed is their hope to see it dismantled among the victors. House Satal Keto remains.

Cleansed of cowards, only the true-believers are left. A few dedicated souls whose paths have led them to shape this House as they have shaped themselves, seek to strengthen and reinforce, and draw to them members of like mind. Quietly they toil without notice making small corrections, fine adjustments, always building, ever working. They wish to be forgotten…it will be the killing mistake of their enemies to the last. Of this There Is No Doubt…

The Isradia are a family of Dark Jedi in the Dark Brotherhood.

Introduction
The family Isradia, the “Imperial House Isradia” was born in the Dark Brotherhood, and has continued to grow over time to include everyone listed below.

Whilst in the Brotherhood, Isradia’s are a family like any other, in the canon of Vardor, they are the Imperial House, and they now encompass many different aspects and characters, philosophies and methodologies.

History of Vardor
Fifteen thousand years ago, the people of Vardor were primitives, only just descended from the trees to live in caves and huts of wood. Life was hard for the ancestors, forced to face the Great Beasts which had evolved on Vardor; the Fenris Wolves, the Drakes, the Kraken, and the Nightshades hunted them remorselessly, and the people were kept primitive and weak by the all encompassing will and power of the Dreaming God, the spirit of the planet, who sought to use them as fuel, as carriers, for His eventual awakening.

The people cried out in their desperation and fear for a saviour, a hero to come and deliver them from their torment, and were answered by a star which fell from the sky to the slopes of Mount Cyney. As the star yet burned, a figure in white and beige, a vision of beauty never seen before on Vardor, walked unharmed from the wreckage; the Rose Goddess.

The people bent their knees to their saviour from the heavens, whom had come to answer their prayers, and She smiled upon them, speaking of Her love for them, telling them how She had felt their pain and need and wished to help. Such were Her words that every soul whom laid eyes on Her was taken with passion and need to serve, and so She became our Goddess of Beauty and Passion.

Her wisdom was boundless and Her love endless, and seeing the cruel life they were forced to live at the machinations of vastly more powerful creatures, She knew that knowledge was the key to their survival, that they might have the power to stand against their oppressors. She taught them all She knew, and educated them that they might defend themselves. She gave to them principles by which to live and thrive, and survive the trials of a growing civilisation. These words of wisdom were set down by ancient scholars in the four Doctrine’s; Love & Beauty, Knowledge, Honour and Destiny.

Over a thousand years, as the people grew and civilisation began to mould into a whole, She watched as Her teachings were expanded and taken further, and knowing Her time on our mortal plane was limited, She went through the towns and villages of the world, and selected from amongst the people the greatest whom could be Her students and carry Her wisdom when She was forced to leave us.

On the slopes of Mount Cyney, She built the Great Abbey, and took Her selected students and followers there to teach them the powers of Her magic, which each of them had the gift for. To some, She gave the title of Nobility, and had them form Houses that they might protect and serve the people. These Houses were united in the alliance of the Iperion to govern all the world.

To protect the harmony that had seen civilisation flourish, She created a church, a religion, to teach her beliefs and the values of the people and ensure the continuation of what She had begun, which She named the Rose Abbey, and She appointed this religion as the keepers of Her knowledge and of the laws of the Iperion. They would oversee the fledgling civilisation and spread knowledge so that it might never fail.

Lastly, the remaining students She used to create the Traditions; mystic orders dedicated to Her magic and its study, and asked that they further knowledge and wisdom amongst the people, and serve as their guides and protectors. In the Traditions She invested the task of bettering themselves and others, for this sacred task was what had ensured the survival of the people in the past.

And so, with the fair government of the Iperion, the education and moderation of the Rose Abbey, and the dynamism of the Traditions to further knowledge and understanding, the Rose Goddess left our mortal plane. The star upon which She had descended was placed beneath the Great Abbey as memorial to Her, and Her earthly remains were entombed beneath this as She passed into the next world.

In the next world, the Rose Goddess joined with the Dreaming God, and the two became twinned, for She had softened His harshness and made something great of His children, but had also ensured His plans were kept in tact, and had in fact hastened their completion. He was well pleased with Her, and in the next world, their communion made them one being, linked for eternity, and how they would remain for the rest of time.

The Feel of Vardor
On Vardor, the Dark Side taints everything. The feeling is tangible, like a palpable scent and feel of grease in the air. Shadows are longer, nights are deeper, the corrupt are more twisted and bitter and there is an underlying feel of decay, decadence and unease everywhere. It is like stepping from a bright morning into a dim, cold, stale room, and it throws all aspects of Vardorian life into harsh relief.

On this planet, a host of unspeakably ancient noble families with the powers of the Force at their command, the vast wealth of a planet and the might and political clout of armies jockey in subtle political, mental and economic jousts for dominance of a planet that balances precariously on the knife edge of destruction, holding together a civilisation and way of life that has become worn thin and frayed. Their power struggles mean nothing to the common folk, who push on with their lives and meaningless existences, yet in the upper echelons, where the true power lies, the nobility fight wars of attrition through murder, drugs, crime, corruption, betrayal and deceit. Pampered dandies indulge the urges of the flesh with narcotics, alcohol, sex, lust and greed; Cruel matriarchs and patriarchs sink into sadism and masochism; Ambitious scholars conduct vile and depraved experiments and violent warriors kill and maim without rhyme or reason.

A monolithic religion that has held together this cesspit of decay has fallen from grace, its living gods deceased in the lifetime of every adult, and is only held together by the will and faith of the oldest and wisest, who desperately clamour to keep their world alive and viable. The decay of the Iperion is beginning to sink into the priesthood, and without their gods as guidance, at the speed of the continents movement, their gentle hand is turning into an iron gauntlet to try and keep stability.

Unseen Force users conglomerate in semi-secret cabals, seeking a way to ascend to another level of existence, many heedless of the plight of their world and their ancient appointed task, and their foundations begin to shake under the weight of whispered revelations that until now have been jealously guarded – all that they believed may be a lie.

And the common people labour on, each sensing that their fabulous, incredibly ancient house of cards may at any moment come crashing down on them, crushing all in its wake. They feel the pain of the planet as it attempts to throw off its festering wounds and cleanse itself, but they know also that it tried with all its might once before and failed, and no longer has the strength to do it again.

Vardorian society is gothic, littered with corruption and decay, and an oppressive feeling of hopelessness and despair. As one travels through it, one senses that this is a world dying slowly by poison and disease, yet unwilling to finally let go and let it end. Architecturally, Vardor resembles the Necromongers of the Chronicles of Riddick and the Harkonnen cities of Dune; the buildings have a Mesopotamian, Babylonian theme, but use the materials customary to gothic art and buildings. In the same vein, the relationship of commoner, Noble, Church and Academia is similar to those cultures.

Mardorin – The Language of Vardor
Mardorin is not in common use on Vardor. Most people speak Basic in their daily lives, though they do count as bi-lingual as they are brought up with both languages. The average Vardorian will not be completely perfect in Mardorin because of this, and it may cause them to pause to think if they are addressed in Mardorin. Only scholars and Nobles are regularly fluent in Mardorin as well as Basic, since the oldest volumes, laws and records are exclusively in that language.

The Iperion
<b>Quote</b>: <i>“And we shall stand till the end of days, the Chosen of the Gods, and rule undying till the world is flame.”
- Rise of the Chosen, CXXVII, 27</i>

The Iperion is the governing body of Vardor, and also the social structure of the world. It has two sides; Nobility and Landsmen. Landsmen are the ordinary, common people of the world; merchants, soldiers, workers, traders, criminals, priests, teachers, doctors, scientists; and every vocation that exists elsewhere or has a place or consumer in the world. They live and continue their lives as others, mostly unconcerned with the dictates of their rulers or the affairs of their world except when it intercedes in their daily lives. They might watch politics, but for the most part having nothing to do with it. Aliens are always considered to be Landsmen, unless they have sworn allegiance to a House.

The Nobility, however, are the rulers, and in most cases when one refers to the Iperion, one is truly referring to the Nobility. Descended from the original students of the Rose Goddess, they are all, through breeding, genetics and training, gifted with the use of Her magic; trained to use the Force, though to varying degrees and ability. Indeed, to become a Noble or to continue to be one, this is a requirement, as set down when the Iperion was formed at Her wishes.

The Iperion originally had only two strata; the Houses and the Imperial House. That, however, has changed over time to suit the natures of the people. There are now four strata of Nobility; Bondsmen, Minor Houses, Greater Houses and the Imperial House.

The Iperion features ranks based on prestige, power, knowledge and achievement, almost but not quite a meritocracy, since it is also influenced by political, social and economic manoeuvring. Ranks are not hereditary and must be earned. The highest rank is Grand Duke or Grand Duchess, and is also a position that oversees and rules the whole of the Iperion.

Urd Nathen
<b>Quote</b>: <i>“Ne’er have I seen a city of its like, that is at once magnificent and tragic, that makes the heart soar and the eyes weep.”
- Cellius Stravias, Corellian Merchant</i>

The capital of the Iperion, the capital city of Vardor, is Urd Nathen, a huge, sprawling metropolis built on, over and under the Dawnshadow range of mountains on Edeth’Torent. The urban centre stretches for over ten kilometres, and the suburban zones a further fifteen in all directions. The city and the landscape for a hundred kilometres around the edge of the suburbs is considered politically neutral ground; not even the Imperial House can claim true rulership of Urd Nathen.

In place of the normal ruling Houses, Urd Nathen is governed by the Peoples Council, an annually elected body of ten citizens who perform the functions a Noble House would normally provide. They are not afforded the status of Nobility, and pay homage to whatever Imperial House currently holds power, just like a true House, but serve to keep the peace in the great city, and to prevent upheavals that could cripple Vardors capital during internecine wars and changeovers. It is forbidden for any House or organisation to bring more than a legion of troops into Urd Nathen at any time, and the Council maintains its own independent army to enforce this rule and protect the city, should it be threatened. Bodyguards and elite protectors do not count against the number of troops, as long as the guards remain with their respective Nobles at all times.

Urd Nathen is home to the largest spaceport in the system, as well as the biggest and most renowned hospitals, universities, theatres, research centres and manufacturing plants, and is the most accepting city in the system of aliens, who can find distractions and amenities to suit every taste within its bounds. It is here that all intergalactic trade is conducted, and it is the face of Vardor and the Nox system to outsiders. The city is well kept, tidy, clean and relatively safe, with many fine entertainments and amusements. Like everywhere else, it has an efficient police, fire and ambulance service.

A famous local attraction is the Final Obelisk, a massive stone obelisk in the centre of a large park. The stone construction is a hundred foot high and scribed with massive symbols and words in Mardorin and other languages all made of pure emerald which pulses with internal power. Unknown to all, the Final Obelisk was built by the ancient Vardorians as a conduit of power for the Dreaming God, and still functions as an antenna and conduit for the Force. Around the park, the Force surges and seethes, granting great power to even the weakest of users. At night, Nightshades and the occasional Drake linger around the obelisk, their purpose unfathomable.

The Assembly is a large open space before the Court of the Chosen, where grand ceremonies and events are held. It is here that Grand Dukes are crowned, new ships are launched, celebrations occur, and state funerals are held. The square itself is large enough to hold more than ten thousand bodies, and has a long promenade down its centre with statues of former Grand Dukes and famous heroes, all cast in stainless steel on granite blocks.

Urd Nathan holds the centres of Iperion life; the Palace of Grand Duke, the Court of the Chosen and the House of Lords. The Palace belongs to the reigning Grand Duke, and serves as a home alongside the Imperial Houses own capital, and it is for receptions, ceremonies, celebrations, meetings and domestic use. It looms like a colossal pregnant black widow atop a rise set apart from the main mountain range, and the entire hilltop is walled off and preserved for the Imperial House alone. The Palace features many bedrooms, staterooms, dining rooms, kitchens, servants quarters, sports facilities, its own spaceport, a grand ballrooms and dining room, offices and meeting rooms, libraries, museums, a temple, combat practice arenas, its own barracks and many dens and receiving rooms.

The Court of the Chosen is where the Iperion holds court, plays politics and where decisions are made. In the Chambers of Ascendance, the Ageless Throne is the seat of the Grand Duke, from where he makes his decrees and rules the planet. Below him, the Greater Tier is a semicircular table where the Tharchions of the Great Houses sit. Behind them, the Minor Tier seats the Tharchions of the Minor Houses. Beside the Ageless Throne at the same level as the Greater Tier and flanking the Grand Duke are four smaller thrones – one for the Archbishop, one of the Heir Apparent of the Imperial House, currently empty, one for the Master of Swords of the Imperial House, and one of the Master of Coins for the Imperial House. At the back of the hall are four Thrones, each unique in design, for the Traditions. None of these chairs have been sat in for thousands of years, and are traditionally there as a sign that the Traditions are welcome, should they deign to attend. The chair for the Sons of Tempest is carved from heavy wood and lined with furs and metal buckles. The Etherites chair is a single piece of white marble. The Children of Gods chair is a dark stained wooden throne that has been carved to look like it is a growing tree alive with animals. The Ninth Orders chair is a made of obsidian, with crimson cushions and arm rests. Gargoyles, skulls, and images of death, life and rebirth leer from its armrests and top.

All the corruption and intrigue of the Iperion focuses here, and it is the formal face and ruling place of the Nobles, and also base of the Court of Rose Savants, the aforementioned Abbey sponsored justice and judicial system, who have a full judicial wing in the Court, where trials, executions, imprisonments and corporal punishments are performed. The Court is grandly appointed and maintained, with dark woods, tapestries, marble floors, statues and relief’s and large, gothic spaces.

The House of Lords is the casual meeting place and communal zone for the Nobles, and is just as rife with politicking and intrigue as the Court, but also filled with scandal and underhanded dealing away from the formal setting of the Court. It is a communal House, restaurant, theatre, lounge, bar, library, gymnasium and business centre all in one. It is here that Nobles are normally found talking, socialising, politicking, plotting, planning, making alliances, planning betrayals, bribing, whoring, taking drugs, drinking, blackmailing and other even less wholesome activities. Only an accredited Noble can enter the House of Lords if not a servant, and patents of Nobility must be shown when ones authenticity is called into question.

Imperial House Isradia
<b>Motto</b>: <i>“Vae Victus.” – “Woe to the Conquered.”</i>

The greatest and most powerful House is the Imperial House, temporal rulers of the Iperion. They are the most powerful militarily, financially and politically, and have the greatest resources and amount of land at their disposal.

The current Imperial House is Isradia, who control forty percent of the planet and both off world colonies, a dominance never before seen in history. Legend has it that the House’s founder, a blacksmith from Tol Rothan and member of the Etherites, slew the demon serpent Korvalis to save the town from death, and was thus able to found House Isradia after the gratitude of the people made him their leader. In this same way came the Houses reputation for mystic arts, religion and elite holy warriors. The sword Isradia Maar-Kan forged, enchanted and used, Avenger, still hands sharp as ever in the main entrance of the Houses’ manor in Tol Rothan, etched with an image of Korvalis around its blade, said to have been put there when the serpents blood contacted the metal.

House Isradia rose to prominence during the Ascension Wars, when Jonaleth Isradia took vengeance for the attempted murder against him by politically laying waste to the then Imperial House Burgisad and having its ruler executed. This was followed by a direct war upon Great House Ranquez, whose leader, Paul Ranquez (an Archbishop in the Rose Abbey) took control after the fall of Burgisad and whom also plotted with Malachai Burgisad for Jonaleths death. Both Houses now fall as part of the Isradian holdings.

House Isradia was and is traditionally closely tied to the Rose Abbey and the Traditions, historically producing members of those organisations frequently, and also with a higher number of Schiatzhederon than other Houses and groups. Before the Ascension War, House Isradia was known as a Mystic House, creating many Clerics and Paladins of the Rose Abbey, and gained much of its wealth and influence from its actions within the Abbey. They were often called ‘the Defenders of the Faith’, for they produced small amounts of Elite troops (where Burgisad would produce larger amounts of regular troops) of extreme efficiency. All these things combined leant House Isradia a very mystical, arcane feel, and resulted in the power they wielded. As Imperial House, this air remains, but is enhanced and strengthened by its new control over all Burgisad and Ranquez’s portfolios

The Meaning Of The Symbol
The symbol of House Isradia was once the sword of its founder, a representation of the mystical and mythical ancestry of the Mystic House. Due to recent events, however, Jonaleth chose to commission a new symbol to more accurately represent the reinvigorated House.

Isradia chose for its new symbol the phoenix, the legendary immortal bird of flame. The phoenix represents Life, Death and Rebirth, all of which have played a significant part in the history of the House, and also represents the necromantic inclinations of Jonaleth. The bird is immortal, a state which the Tharchion has now achieved for himself, and is known to be powerful, fierce, strong, intelligent and noble, all virtues that Jonaleth extols.

The Dark Phoenix, however, which is the symbol of House Isradia also represents their dark nature, future and past, and the sword it clutches is the strength of arms, mind and body which defines the House. It is also with a certain irony that Jonaleth picked a creature of flame and light, which whilst providing power and making accurate representation of the Imperial House, also represents two things that can destroy its leader.
Clan Plagueis was formed from the merger of Clans Exar Kun and Satal Keto. Out of this, three houses were formed: House Exar Kun, House Satal Keto, and House Bane. The latter was soon removed due to low activity. Soon after this, the new clan's home system of Acarr went supernova, and they were forced to move to the Jusadih System. Here, they have gone through countless troubles from leadership changes to battles against forces vowed to destroy them. Yet, the real trouble still lies waiting around the bend.

History
Darth Plagueis
Coming Soon...

Beginning
Years ago, before the Great Split of the Brotherhood, the event known as the Exodus, there was a Clan of infamy named Alvaak. The avowed ‘chosen’ of the Grand Admiral of the Emperors Hammer, these Jedi were his closest confidants and aides to Ronin, and their loyalty was without question. This period is fast becoming legend, but one Dark Jedi remains now from this fabled period; the Loremaster of Clan Plagueis, Jonaleth Isradia.

When the declaration of independence was signed, a schism like no other arose in the halls of the Dark Brotherhood. In the end, it would be those who left the yoke of the Hammer who would survive and prosper, though at the time many considered them traitors. Of the Clan loyal to Ronin, it was believe all would remain, but in the face of the Grand Admirals arrogance, a handful fled; All those who did are now mere memories, bar one.

This small group of intrepid adventurers travelled through hardship and pain to reach their new home on Antei. However, as they travelled, unseen eyes watched and appreciated their plight. On the darkest and most dismal phase of their voyage, a spectre in the Force visited them, the immortal spirit of the greatest Dark Lord of them all; Exar Kun. He pronounced that these few were worthy of him, and made them heirs to his fortune and powers of Mind Control.

When the disparate group finally arrived on Antei, they were filled once more with fire and passion from their communion, and besought the Dark Council leave to create a new Clan based on their new Masters’ teachings. Permission was granted, and from the ashes of Alvaak arose Clan Exar Kun. The rebels took Acarr as their home, and against the pessimistic view of many, succeeded in a way no-one had thought possible to make a new Clan, alive and thriving.
Their rise to power became legend in its own right; they defeated the older, established Clans in Great Jedi Wars, Independence Games, and Clan Feuds alike, and were sought out as allies by many others. It was Clan Exar Kun who found the lost Grand Master Firefox when Okemi took control of the Brotherhood, and it was Exar Kun’s children who were the greatest warriors in the Battle Halls on Antei.

Their glory continued unbroken, until the one called known now only by his pseudonym came to power; the Pretender. Since its founding, Exar Kun had been ruled by those who had met the Dark Lords shade, but the Pretender had never spoken with Kun, and did not share his vision. Against the council of Heirs, he took the Clan as his personal tool, and like a hammer of glass, it shattered in his grasp.

The Heirs revolted, and war was waged between clanmates. When finally the dust settled, a single Heir and Elder remained; Jonaleth. But now the Clan was weakened and dying. Disgusted with what had happened and the necessities it had driven him too, Jonaleth swore an oath never again to sit on the seat of power, lest he be forced again to slay his brothers, and passed on the rulership of the Clan to another, the former Grand Master Chi-Long, prophesying that when next he took the seat, it would be a time of Darkness Unending.

Arriving at the scene of the devastation, Chi-Long and his forces tended to the wounded of the Clan as Isradia reported on what had happened, then disappeared. Under the Grand Masters control, the Clan was stabilised again, but would never return to the glory it had known.

Yet in another part of the Brotherhood, a second Clan was falling on Dark Times. The prodigal Sons of Satal Keto were descended from the First Krath himself, and through the ages had carried the Dark Lords knowledge of Illusion that had smitten his enemies and forged his empire. In these times however, the blood of Satal Keto was running thin, and no true blood had been seen in a generation. There was power still remaining in the Houses of the Clan, whom were known as the wisest of the Brotherhood, whom had researched and recovered more lore of the Dark Side than any other, and who were truly gifted in the Force, but external threats held these things as of little value.

Crimson Tide
In their weakened state, the Sons did not see the looming threat of the Crimson Tide. These mercenaries and their army were descended from the Jedi and soldiers whom had battled against Satal Keto in aeons past, and like a scavenger of the stars, they fell upon the great Clan in its hurt state, and began to systematically eradicate it. Those few Elders of the Clan who remained fought with skill and cunning never before seen, but their numbers were too few, even with the Force as their ally.

In the end, they could hold but a single world against the onslaught of the Tide, and reaching out with their powers, beseeched the help of allied Clans. Only one was close enough to respond in time; the still frail Exar Kun. Heading their allies call, the Kunians sent what remaining forces they had after their own war to re-enforce their allies.

The battle was long and hard as Elders, Equites, Journeymen and followers of both Clans fought side by side against the marauding Tide, but in the end, the superior power and skill of the Jedi won the day, and the Crimson forces were thrown back into the darkness of space to lick their wounds and plot their revenge. The battle was over, the Dark Side had won, but at a terrible cost. What little that remained of both Clans before was now decimated further – the Consuls of Satal Keto and Exar Kun had fallen in battle, and as many took stock of the situation, they fell into desperation, and lay down to die. On the field of battle in both Clans, yet again a single Elder still stood.

Unification
Weakened and hurt, both great Clans still clung to the shreds of their glory and honour, and seeing that the weight of corruption in both could not be allowed to remain, the Dark Council intervened. In its entirety, the legendary Star Chamber visited the remnants of Exar Kun and Satal Keto, and pronounced the Dictum of Two Skies. There could no longer be two fates for these Jedi; two Clans would unite now as one, and lend the strengths of both to a new order for them. The composure of this Clan would be decided in ritual combat; the weak would perish that the strong might survive.

And thus the Dictum of Two Skies was carried out. New members came to the field, and for a month, Jedi fought Jedi in battle for supremacy, and when the dust finally fell, a new band stood together, united by victory and strength, their weaknesses purged and cleansed in a trial by fire. From the ashes of two Clans arose a new one: Plagueis, a new life born of death. Then the Dictum was released, and as their final act, the Elders of the Star Chamber worked a great feat of Force magic - grasping the skeins of reality itself, they wove together the twin fates of Exar Kun and Satal Keto, and merged their powers into one. At last the Star Chamber departed for Antei once again, and the new Consul of Plagueis, Kir Katarn, Deputy Grand Master, set forth to forge a destiny for the Clan.

The shockwaves of the Star Chambers actions, however, continued to ripple out through the Force, and unknown to all, a forgotten Sith Lord stirred in the embrace of the Dark Side. On the distant tomb planet of Korriban, Darth Plagueis arose from death in the shape of a grim wraith of Shadow and Dust, and called out to those whom had taken on his name.

In Plagueis, there were now but four Elders of the Dark Side with the strength to hear the cosmic summons, and the wraiths call touched their minds like caress, filling them with the subtle urge to seek him out. Kir Katarn, Sarin, Corran Force and Jonaleth Isradia answered the undying Dark Lords call, and visited his resting place on the necropolis world. Deep beneath the surface, the Krath enacted the rituals to re-animate the Sith Lord, and the wraith of Plagueis was brought for the first time into the material realm. For a day and a night, Plagueis spoke to these four, and listened to their story in turn. At the last, he blessed this new Clan with his providence, and dubbed these four his Eldritch Cabal, his protégés to be invested with his power, and to once again carry out his will in the galaxy.

The wisdom of Plagueis is renowned and legendary, so vast and encompassing that no mere mortal could hope to contain it all. And so, the Dark Lord invested in each of the Cabal a part of the Mystery that, when reunited, would lead to ascendance such Plagueis himself had achieved. In Jonaleth was invested the Mystery of the Wise, the secret knowledge and lore of the ancient Sith Lords. In Sarin was invested the Mystery of Ether, penetrating and steely knowledge of the supremacy of the Force. To Kir came the Mystery of One, the knowledge of control, unity and singularity that quantified the cosmos, and to Corran was set the Mystery of the Firmament, understanding of the nature of reality.

When they returned to their Clan, the Eldritch were as messiahs. Each bearing a fragment of the Dark Lord within them, their plans were laid out to lend new strength to their brothers and sisters. It was during this time that Jonaleth penned the Wisdom of Plagueis and became the Loremaster of Clan Plagueis, wisest of the Children. Sarin delved into the powers granted by the Star Chambers magic, and discovered new facets the Clan powers. Kir formed the Council of the Wise, so that the knowledge, heritage and wisdom of Plagueis would never be lost again, and Corran ventured into the galaxy and returned with arcane artefacts to empower the Clan.

End of Acarr
It was a month later that the disturbance began to manifest. Once again, it was the four Elders of the Cabal that sensed the change in the galaxy around them, and the felt a sudden cosmic rage was over them. In the Acarr system, home of the new Clan Plagueis, the sun was shuddering with anger, for the great feat of the Star Chamber had somehow distorted reality further than intended by merging the powers of Exar Kun and Satal Keto, an the heart of the great star of Sigil now faltered.

This doom was close, but the Plagueians had time to act – moving like lightning, the Clan mobilised itself, and began evacuation, fleeing to the Jusidah system. It was then that the Crimson Tide returned to seek vengeance on their defeaters, and launched an attack on the moving Plagueis forces. The Clan fought valiantly, and despite overwhelming odds against them, held back the Tide forces until the evacuation could be completed. Then, in a final act of malign vengeance, Kir Katarn and Sarin blockaded the system, trapping the majority of the mercenary forces within as Sigil finally went supernova.

Jusidah
With the Crimson Tide severely crippled, the Dark Jedi of Clan Plagueis settled onto the worlds designated by the Consul. House Exar Kun settled on the planet Aerun, while House Satal Keto settled on the planet Morroth. The Clan Summit and the Council of the Wise settled within the newly constructed Dark Tower on the planet Kapsina, and the various arms of the Clan established their dominance over the populations of the Jusidah System.

With the new abundant wealth and resources of the Jusidah System now at their disposal, the Houses and the Clan Summit of Clan Plagueis set about creating various enterprises and identities to help mask its existence from outsiders and possible enemies. The first step was for Clan Plagueis to create a false identity for itself, and to achieve this Dark Jedi Master Aristan Dantes decided to create a company named Sistros Acquisitions & Holdings. The company instantly became a powerful enterprise, and in turn began to show a real profit as it eventually evolved into the primary provider for trading and other ventures within the sector. With the creation of the first system wide stock market, Sistros Acquisitions & Holdings became the premier power broker for the entire Jusidah System.

The Selen Incident
With its financial security in place, and its identity hidden from any potential enemies, Clan Plagueis was now faced with a new problem, a power struggle within the upper ranks of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood was beginning to develop. It began slowly; under the pretext that a few of the Clans were becoming restless and believed that the Dark Brotherhood itself was becoming complacent in its place in the galaxy. Clans made small allegations against their so called brothers, the largest of which was Clan Arcona and Taldryan turning into active battle over accusations that the other clan was holding brotherhood members. This series of events between Clan’s Arcona and Taldryan would come to be known in the chronicles of the Dark Brotherhood as the “Selen Incident”.

As these events were unfolding, the other Clans of the Dark Brotherhood were commencing a wargame exercise in the Aranna region of Brotherhood space. Warnings were sent out all through the brotherhood, and Clans Naga Sadow, Tarentum, Plagueis, and Scholae Palatinae started to slowly and silently attack each other. They started by sending Envoys to the other clans to inspect them for any weapons that might be deemed hazardous. Naga Sadow's Envoy to Clan Plagueis met a frightening doom with Consul Sarin, and the clan announced they were no longer allies to Naga Sadow. The same occured in various other places between all four clans, and the wargames turned into something much more serious.

While the four Clans involved in the wargames began to war amongst themselves, alliances were forged between the warring parties, resulting in a split of forces. Clan Naga Sadow aligned itself with Clan Tarentum, while Clan Plagueis forged an alliance with Clan Scholae Palatinae. As the fighting progressed the Deputy Grand Master sent out an urgent communiqué through the Dark Brotherhood’s holonet that Clans Arcona and Taldryan had reached a resolution to the “Selen” crisis. The entire affair was deemed classified, but had been publicly stated to be a mistake in communication, and that the Taldryan fleet was returning to their home system without further delay. However, the wargames between the other four clans continued to go on, ending with a massive battle between all four fleets. The attack plans were fierce, but in the end Plagueis and its ally were forced to retreat, ending the conflict after two straight weeks and fighting.

Not more then a single day passed before a strange transmission from Clan Tarentum was intercepted by the brotherhood. Despite the Dark Council's best decoders working on it, they were unable to figure out what any of it said save for four words : Grand Master Jac Cotelin. Clan Plagueis tried getting some information about the message out of their allies, but the summit denied it ever being sent, and refused to talk.

The Great Jedi War – “The Enemy Within”
Nearly a full month would pass before another strange event would occur, but it would have the significance of plunging the entire Dark Brotherhood into chaos. A single fighter from Clan Scholae Palatinae was on final approach to Clan Taldryan’s citadel carrying medical supplies that had been ordered by Taldryan to replenish what had been lost after the recent wargames. Suddenly the fighter’s systems went berserk, resulting in its occupant, a young Acolyte, losing complete control and crashing short of the Taldryan Citadel. However, the explosion from the fighter was immense, and Clan Scholae Palatinae ordered an immediate investigation into the cause of the crash. When several days went by and Clan Taldryan had failed to respond with any reports to the cause of the crash, Scholae Palatinae filed a complaint to the Deputy Grand Master demanding some action be taken against Taldryan.

Unfortunately, the Consul’s objections and outrage to the incident were but one of more than 60 such incidents that had occurred in the four weeks since the end of hostilities between the Clans. More reports of “accidents” were coming in faster than the Chamber of Justice could process and investigate. Even the evidence presented by the Consul of Clan Taldryan from the wreckage of the Scholae Palatinae fighter, which had been collected and tested by Clan Plagueis to ensure the appearance of an independent analysis and objectivity, did nothing to bring the Justicar any relief or proof of who might be behind the recent rash of events. Eventually the Justicar sought out the help of the Grand Master, but was simply given the advice to find a speedy resolution to the recent events. The Grand Master looked strangely tired, but was set to depart for other meetings, and had been pushing harder than ever to watch over the Dark Brotherhood. The Deputy Grand Master and the Justicar both commented that they were concerned that the Grand Master might soon burn himself out, and the implications of that created a great deal of concern to the two members of the Dark Council.

Three days after the Justicar last saw the Grand Master with his own eyes, an address in the Dark Voice was released from the Deputy Grand Master. The general consensus among the senior Dark Jedi of the Dark Brotherhood was that while the address touched on important issues within the Dark Brotherhood, it was more or less just a reminder to the Clans to behave themselves. And even more noticeable was the fact that the address presented no information whatsoever regarding the recent rash of events that had afflicted every Clan, and had served to enrage the Consuls and other elder Dark Jedi within the Dark Brotherhood. Eventually these events would lead to the Consuls seeking out their own resolutions, but first some other events would transpire that would lead to even deeper problems within the Dark Brotherhood. During a meeting with the Lord Hegemon, the Herald, the Headmaster, the Combat Master and the Dark Voice editor, a lone figure arrived with a message for the Headmaster. The figure was dressed in the robes of a Guardian, but the robes were tattered and resembled those of the past generation of the Brotherhood, and included the crest of the former Clan Satal Keto on the chest of the outer robes. As he approached the Dark Council members he withdrew a small package and slowly set it down. The Lord Hegemon’s sense of danger suddenly went to high alert, and he started to yell out for the other members to get down, but it was too late, the small package exploded, bathing the office in a searing light, followed by a deafening explosion.

A short while later Grand Master Jac Cotelin addressed the entire Dark Brotherhood in a holographic transmission, explaining that two recent assassination attempts had been made against the Dark Council. But that in both cases no one had been killed, and although the Lord Hegemon had been seriously injured, the Headmaster and Herald had only been slightly injured in the recent attempt. He then decreed a warning to whoever was responsible that this was their last chance to leave or suffer the wrath of the Dark Brotherhood. Yet the mystery of these events would deepen further, as the Grand Master prepared to deliver a different speech entirely on the opposite end of Dark Brotherhood space. The speech pertained to a recent agreement that the Lord Hegemon had reached with the residents of a planet for exclusive control over the mining rights. The Grand Master was just exiting his shuttle when he was suddenly shot by a stun bolt fired by a sniper from a nearby tower. Six hooded figures burst forward and picked up the now unconscious Grand Master and just as quickly disappeared with their target.

From this point events become confusing, as there are varying accountings of what came next. But before anyone knew what had happened, the Dark Brotherhood suddenly found itself faced with two Grand Masters, both appearing to be Jac Cotelin, but with purely different agendas. One would become the “Red” Jac, the other the “Blue” Jac. Clans and members alike would split the Dark Brotherhood apart, even in some cases sides being taken within Clans themselves. Over a short period of time the Consuls of each Clan would force their belief in the “true” Jac to their members, and thus aligning their entire Clan with one or the other of the two Grand Masters. The ensuing chaos created another Great Jedi War, this one aptly dubbed “The Enemy Within”, where Clan fought Clan over who believed they were following the real Grand Master.

Eventually Dark Jedi Master Sarin felt it was prudent for Clan Plagueis to support the “Red” Jac, and action was immediately taken for Clan Plagueis to defend and bring back the true Jac back to power. The Consul consulted with his closest allies: Proconsul, Sith Battlelord Salth Khan, a trusted friend and confidant; the Loremaster of Plagueis, Dark Adept Jonaleth Isradia, an ancient Dark Jedi with incredible power and loyal to Clan Plagueis; DJM Corran Force, Swordmaster of Plagueis who had fought alongside the Consul in many a battle; and Sith Warlord Vessicant, Watchmaster of Plagueis, who’s collective wisdom and rage in combat had proven to be a deciding factor on many an occasion. Together the group comprised the elder and most senior of the Dark Jedi in Clan Plagueis, each having proven their loyalty and ferocity in combat to protect Clan Plagueis. With his war council now assembled, the Consul of Plagueis set each with tasks that would help ensure the eventual return of the “Red” Jac to his rightful place as Grand Master.

Time and again the forces of Clan Plagueis would find itself involved in ground and space battles in defense of the true Jac. The toll was heavy, but in the end the forces supporting the “Red” Jac were victorious. In the midst of all these battles, House Exar Kun suddenly found itself assaulted by the very people that they were supposed to be dominating on the planet Aerun. Without warning the Diadem Fortress suddenly lost all of its internal and external defenses, followed by an all-out assault by rogue Aerunian forces that were discovered to be wearing the insignia of Clan Naga Sadow on their armor. The attack proved to be devastating to the fortress, but the forces of Exar Kun prevailed and defeated the enemy. It was soon learned by Dark Adept Jonaleth Isradia di Plagia that the assault on the fortress had come about as a result of former members of Naga Sadow who had been exiled from the clan, but were hoping to redeem themselves in the eyes of their former masters. Sadly they failed, as the family Isradia hunted each down and summarily executed for them for their actions.

After nearly eight weeks of skirmishes and outright battles, the Great Jedi War came to a conclusion as the forces of the “Red” Jac overwhelmed those of the “Blue” Jac and the true Jac returned to power. However, the fallout from those that had supported the “Blue” Jac’s tyrannical assaults and conflict within the Dark Brotherhood would be closely watched by the Justicar for some time to come, despite their pleas that they believed that they were supporting the true “Jac”. But Clan Plagueis, along with Clans Tarentum and Naga Sadow, reaped the rewards of loyalty and trust from the Grand Master. With chaos restored within the Dark Brotherhood, Clan Plagueis set forth to further their dominance and standing within the Brotherhood.

Not long after the dust had settled from the Great Jedi War, Sith Battlelord Salth Khan stepped down as Proconsul, but was subsequently appointed by the Consul to become the first Nightmaster on the Council of the Wise, a position that placed him in command of the fleets within Clan Plagueis. Sith Battlemaster Aabsdu di Plagia Dupar al’Tor, Quaestor of House Exar Kun, was tapped to become the new Proconsul, and following on the success the former Proconsul had achieved, set about to further improve Clan Plagueis. Several months later Sarin was appointed as the new Deputy Grand Master, to serve at the right-hand of the Grand Master. With this pinnacle appointment, Clan Plagueis found itself with a new Consul, Battlemaster Aabsdu al’Tor, and a new Proconsul, former Clan Envoy Archpriest Valerian di Plagia Orzon. With Plagueis’ power now set with new leadership, and its hand now reaching to the top ranks of the Dark Council, the future for the clan was now very secure.

Character History
Virulence Rising

Virulence was born Saj Bezatyne on the harsh world of Barab I, somewhere around 3-5 BBY. Around the age of 10 or so, the Bezatyne family was ambushed by a group of Bounty Hunters while hunting on their home world. The Bezatyne Elders were slain, but the three younglings, Saj, Kazic, and Kaiya, were abducted, and sold into slavery to the Hutts. While Saj and Kazic were thrown into harsh combat training as gladiators for the Hutt's entertainment, Kaiya was shipped off elsewhere; her whereabouts remain unknown to this day.

Over the years, Saj and Kazic quickly gained reputations as extraordinarily vicious and skilled fighters, and eventually the cruel Hutts forced them to face each other in the arena. Reluctantly, the brothers engaged in a sickening display of savage ferocity combined with lethal precision. After almost an hour of all-out combat, Saj prevailed, but in the end, refused to end his brother's life. The Hutts in turn, promptly executed Kazic on the spot, and spent the next 6 weeks torturing Saj repeatedly for his insolence.

Just as the Hutts were about to torture Saj to death, their complex was infiltrated by a small band of maverick Jedi led by the Barabel Saba Sebatyne. Saba freed Saj, returning him to his home world of Barab I.

Saba immediately sensed Saj's abilities, and began his training in the use of the force, along side her son Tesar, and the Hara Sisters. It wasn't long however before Saj's dark tendencies began to surface, and Saba herself began to second guess her decision to train him. Eventually, Saj snapped, losing his temper in a training exercise with another student, and killing the young Barabel. Saba responded by using a Jedi technique intended to erase Saj's short-term memory, however she only succeeded in burying it, along with his identity, deep in his subconscious.

Banished from Barab I, with no recollection of who he was, Saj adopted the name Virulence, and made his way across the galaxy, using his training to land work as the occasional Mercenary or Assassin, all the while being guided by a force he could not explain.

Into the Void

Virulence spent several years working exclusively for a wealthy land owner and politician in the Hapan Cluster, accumulating vast amounts of money eliminating enemies and political rivals, which he used to purchase and customize his Miy’Til Starfighter, which he named The Virus. He eventually accepted a contract which took him across the galaxy pursuing a target to the surface of Yavin IV. After eliminating the mark deep in the planet’s dense jungles, Virulence heard the sound of dueling lightsabers in the distance.

The Dark Jedi of Ziost detected Virulence as soon as he entered the system, and captured the reptile as soon as he set down on Elysian.

Abomination Unleashed

As the Clans of Exar Kun and Satal Keto were merged to form Clan Plagueis, Virulence finally reached the rank of Dark Jedi Knight, and began taking leadership roles within the Clan; however the reptile felt his destiny lay elsewhere.

The reptile approached Clan Plagueis’ Loremaster, Dark Adept Jonaleth Isradia, and pledged his life and loyalty to the Imperial House Isradia. Believing the reptile to be “The Abomination” mentioned in an ancient Vardorin prophecy, The Grand Duke of Vardor accepted the reptile’s pledge, naming him Margrave Virulence Bezatyne Isradia, and made him Panarch of the coastal city of Gar Thesalin, which had recently been thrown into a state of leaderless chaos and unrest. Virulence immediately resigned from his leadership position within Clan Plagueis, spending most of his time stabilizing and rebuilding Gar Thesalin, but managed an elevation to the rank of Krath Priest, and fought viciously alongside his Clansmen in the Sixth Great Jedi War.

At the end of the Sixth Great Jedi War, Virulence suddenly left his long time home of Clan Plagueis, and went rogue. Rumors have circulated claiming the reptile has located his sister Kaiya, and that he has been seen in Gar Thesalin with a small Barabel child, however none of this has been confirmed.

The Virus
