He stashed his pilfered items in a hollowed-out branch, and concealed it with a practically invisible bark lid.

After about three years of this, during which many small items went missing, his cache was discovered when a huge storm broke the branch at the cavity, scattering items across his entire village. The total value of the stolen items was almost enough to get him banished from his village forever, and his use of the [[starwars:Force|Force]] pushed it over the edge, since the village had been attacked by the Empire during [[starwars:Order 66|Order 66]] when they sheltered a [[starwars:Jedi|Jedi]].

Elysia is a partially habitable moon of [[Perune]]. Ice-covered, except for a few tropical rift valleys, the moon is one of the three habitable moons of Perune. It is also the central moon in a tri-moon cart with [[Ostara]] and [[Iosan]].

==Description==
Elysia’s surface is mostly ice-covered with subterranean seas, except for a few tropical rift valley dwellings where thermal springs suspend the otherwise frozen surface. Within these rifts, shallow seas have formed, flowing into idyllic beaches that lead into jungle canopies filled with imported wildlife for hunting sport to entertain high ranking Cartel staff and their guests. The Caelus Cartel has experimented with terraforming parts of the surface. A failed experiment has created an arid rift valley that resembles a miniature desert. Further terraforming experiments were canceled due to their cost and the previous failure.

Like the other main rift on Elysia, the western rift runs over the surface on the equatorial line and is mostly made of a sea spanning an expanse of 714 km².

====Eastern Rift====
With a significantly smaller sea in its center, the eastern rift is overgrown with rich foliage and is home to the majority of the moon's immigrated wildlife. Every year, the Cartel would hold their "Hunting Games" in and around the eastern rift, though predators slain on the ice-plains, the western rift or the desert plains will be measured in at the same rate as those slain in the eastern rift.

====[[Elysia Observatory]]====
The Emperor's Observatory is a bunker on the moon Elysia located in the sea covering most of the Western Rift near the shoreline. It was one of many observatories that Emperor Palpatine, also the Dark Lord of the Sith, established across the galaxy. Each observatory looked beyond the galactic rim with the intent of finding what laid beyond the known galaxy, and each had a specific purpose.

The Elysia observatory contained a number of items the Emperor had collected before his death, with most of them being robbed from a Sith Temple located on another moon in the Caelus system. The bunker originally had no locking or unlocking mechanism, making it only accessible to those attuned in the Force but was later modified to grant access to all members of the clan as place for their studies under supervision of the Clan's Lorekeeper.

===Pre-Taldryan===
At some unknown point in its past, the moon entered an ice age, presumably around two-thousand years ago. While this ice age overrun most of the planets, a few parts of the landscape revolving around canyons with naturally occurring hot springs resisted the change in climate and formed rifts that sustained a climate ranging from temperate to tropical.

Later, during the first attempts to decide on the main capital for their colonization, researchers from the Imperial forces revealed a high concentration of rare ores in the mantle of the moon and attempts were made to terraform the surface in order to allow the Imperials easier access to the ores, but these attempts turned out to be too expensive compared to the gain created by mining and refining the ore, creating an artificial desert.

===Taldryan's Arrival===
Consul Appius "Zappius" Wight, growing concerned with threats facing Taldryan, decided to split his forces. The newly formed [[House Thanatos]] established their base under the ice covered surface of the moon, in the forgotten Jedi Temple of Aidos.

Fiction competitions are contests where participants, using their own characters, write a story that revolves around a prompt provided by the competition organizer. Fiction competitions are the most popular type of fiction writing event, and they are also a good way to encourage members’ character development.

This article provides an overview of fiction competitions from the perspectives of both an organizer and a participant. It includes instructions on how to run a fiction competition successfully, as well as how to submit a fiction entry that qualifies for the competition. == What are Fiction Competitions? ==

Fiction competitions are one of the many forms of competition available to the members of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood for participation. They involve writing fictional stories in response to a prompt that is outlined within the '''Public Competition Details'''. Competitions must follow the [[Voice Competition Approval Guidelines]]. Use of the [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/125hThvIEweRL-nHDepON-PV-ixeC8zLp9xmYkI9wkM0/edit?usp=sharing Fiction Grading Rubric] is highly advised, but organizers are permitted to add situational modifiers to the rubric or detail their own grading specifications as long as the criteria are clearly outlined and transparent for participants to see.

In addition to the standard [[Crescents|Crescent]] system of award, Fiction competitions, much like the ACC and Run-Ons, also award [[Cluster of Ice|Clusters of Ice]]:

== Creating Fiction Competitions ==
When you wish to create a fiction competition, it is always a good idea to coordinate with your Unit leaders ([[House Summit|House]] and/or [[Clan Summit]] depending on the reach of your competition). Unit leaders are experienced competition organizers who can provide invaluable advice and help you to get your competition approved. Furthermore, by letting them know what you are planning, they can check that it doesn’t clash with other major events and they can help you to advertise the competition in reports and Clan communication channels.

You can create fiction competitions from the administration panel, which is accessed by clicking your name in the top right corner of the main Brotherhood site.

This brings up the administration menu page with multiple options. The competition section is on the left side of the page. Select the “Manage Competitions” option. There will be a green “Create Competition” button that will open the page with all the available competition archetypes you can create.

There are currently two options that will allow you to create a fiction-based competition: Fiction Competition and Regular Competition. The difference is that a Regular competition that is fiction-based will not provide the participants with Clusters of Ice as an award for word count.

For a competition, you would like to award Clusters of Ice for, select the “Fiction Competition” archetype.

You will then be directed to the creation page where there are fields you must fill out that describe the competition you wish to create. Most of these are straightforward like the title, organizers (the person(s) responsible for creation and grading), and the time the competition starts and ends. When setting the time frame of the competition, it is a good idea to place the start date a few days after the submission for creation as it needs to be reviewed by the proper parties for approval.

At this point you will also decide the “Target Unit” of your competition. This will determine what level of Crescent your top three winners will receive. The table in the [[Crescents#Tiering|Crescents]] page will help you to decide which tier of Crescents is appropriate based on the target unit of your competition.

Below the Competition Attributes form you will find the Public Competition Details box. This is where you can write the prompt, rules and grading information for your competition. All fiction competitions approved by the Voice office adhere to the standards and requirements set out in the [[Voice Competition Approval Guidelines]]. The main purpose of these guidelines is to guarantee that Clusters of Ice are awarded for the same standard of fiction submissions across the Brotherhood and to make sure that members have a clear idea of how to participate and place in all fiction competitions. By keeping these guidelines in mind while planning your competition you can ensure the speediest possible approval time.

==== Clear Grading Criteria ====
The grading criteria most commonly used in fiction competitions are those set out in the [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/125hThvIEweRL-nHDepON-PV-ixeC8zLp9xmYkI9wkM0/edit?usp=sharing Fiction Grading Rubric]. The Rubric is the easiest way to show your participants how you are going to score their submissions. While use of the Fiction Rubric is highly advised, it is not compulsory. As long as you clearly define how you are going to grade submissions in the competition details, you can use any grading criteria you deem suitable.

In order to place the Fiction Grading Rubric in one of your competitions you will most likely need to use Markdown. The Markdown code for placing a link would look like this:

The prompt is the opening thought from which your competition’s participants develop their story. In this crucial element of the competition creation process, the Voice Staff will be looking for a prompt that is clear and sufficiently detailed for the participant to follow through with a story. In addition, the content of the prompt should follow a few specific considerations:

* Open prompts are prohibited. Open prompts are story cues which give no specific instructions (e.g. “Write a story on any subject you like”). Remember that this is a competition. To be able to judge entries against your grading criteria and against each other, you need a prompt that gives a common starting point or idea to all the stories.
* Star Wars universe prompts. Prompts should relate to the Star Wars universe and/or the Dark Brotherhood universe. While prompts in alternative universes are not prohibited, they must involve the participant’s DJB character and are subject to additional review from the Voice.
* If you are running a DJB-wide competition, your prompt should not have separate options for each Clan. This is to ensure that all your participants’ entries are graded on a level basis.
* Voice Staff does not judge the quality of prompts, but reserve the right to request more specific details, or to make things more clear to the potential participants.

In your competition details you should always make sure that the prompt is clearly distinguished from the general instructions (e.g. grading criteria, requirements, word limits). Word caps define the minimum and maximum number of words that participants must write in order to be considered for participation in your competition. As the organizer, you need to state the minimum word count in the Details box. The minimum word cap in all fiction competitions must be at least 500 words, as that is the word count required to earn one [[Cluster of Ice]]. A maximum word count is not a requirement, but you could include it if you are encouraging a shorter type of fiction.

Before you submit your competition, make sure that your Public Details box contains these three basic requirements:

This section, aimed at the competition participant, will show you how to interpret and submit to fiction competitions. The specifications you should take special note of in fiction competitions are the prompt, grading criteria and instructions like word caps and submission formats.

==== Word Processing Programs ====
While Microsoft Office’s ''”Word”'' is the most well known word processing program in circulation, it costs money to use and can be quite expensive. Mac users also have the option of purchasing ''”Pages”'', which also costs money. If you are not in a position to afford or have access to these programs do not fret. There are plenty of free alternatives to help you create and write your fictions!

[https://www.google.com/docs/about/ Google Docs] is the most common platform in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. It is a free service that offers cloud storage and near-instant backup, as well as collaborative editing and sharing features. It also comes free to anyone with a gmail address. If you don’t have a gmail address, Google Docs will still work or link to your other accounts. You can also create a [https://support.google.com/mail/answer/56256?hl=en free account] at any time.

Other alternatives include:

* [https://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html Open Office] - a free, open source version of Microsoft Office.

* NotePad - comes pre-installed on all Windows machines

It’s always a good idea to have your fictions proofread by another set of eyes, whether they are a fellow clannmate, friend or even a family member. Proofreading is a great way to increase your chances of placing in an competition.

==== The Prompt ====
The prompt is the initial story idea that the competition organizer provides to stimulate your story-writing creativity. It is a good idea to keep the prompt in mind as you plan and write your entry, because adherence to prompt will affect your Creativity and Realism scores in the standard Voice Fiction Rubric, as you will see in the section [[Fiction#Grading Fiction Competitions|below]].

==== Word caps ====
Competition organizers will specify a minimum required word count (usually 500), and they may sometimes impose a maximum limit as well. To be considered for participation and be awarded Clusters of Ice, your entry has to meet the word caps. It’s easy to get a word count for your story; all mainstream word processors have a word count function. First, select the text of your story (taking into account that competition organizers may not count long ID lines, explanatory notes or copy-pasted prompts), then:

This section, aimed at the competition organizer, details the process after the competition ends, from the awarding of Clusters of Ice to the grading and use of the Rubric.

==== Word Count ====
The word count determines the amount of [[Cluster of Ice|Clusters of Ice]] that each participant earns for their entry. If an entry is disqualified because it did not adhere to the word count limits, the participant will not receive CIs. The word count is performed automatically by the website once the competition ends, but you should always check and correct the count if long ID lines or copy-pasted prompt text make a significant difference to the figure. Only the title, body text and location headers, if present, should be included in the word count.

==== Using the Fiction Grading Rubric ====
The primary way of grading fiction competitions is through the [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/125hThvIEweRL-nHDepON-PV-ixeC8zLp9xmYkI9wkM0/edit?usp=sharing Official Voice Fiction Rubric]. The rubric splits into four main categories with percentages based on what it should count towards in the final grading:

The Rubric is also numbered one to five in order to help you decide whether or not your grading can fit into one of those categories. The Voice office encourages the usage of the Fiction Grading Rubric because it clearly outlines what is required to get a top position in a competition (one of the main requirements to submitting a competition). The Fiction Grading Rubric is the grading scheme that is used in all official Dark Council-organized [[Vendetta|Vendettas]] and [[Great Jedi War|Great Jedi Wars]], so using it is good practice for these big competitive events. However, the Fiction Grading Rubric can be foregone for another clearly stated set of requirements.

'''Port Kasiya''' is the central settlement and city on the moon [[Kasiya]]. Located in the western Sarutabaruta Lowlands on the coast, it is the only major hub that exists on the moon outside of smaller settlements that openly conduct trade with the city to survive.

The city itself was controlled by the '''Arasaka Corporation''', which operated from the heart of the City Center district. As of late 39 ABY, the city had entered a state of war against [[Clan Taldryan]] but fell before it's forces and that of several city gangs.

Shortly after the discovery of the [[Caelus System]] by the Empire, prior to the colonization of [[Chyron]] within the system, [[starwars:Grand_Moff|Grand Moff]] [[starwars:Wilhuff_Tarkin|Wilhuff Tarkin]] took notice of the remoteness and opportunity following the loss of the [[starwars:Imperial_security_complex|Imperial Center of Military Research]] on the planet [[starwars:Scarif|Scarif]]. Construction had immediately begun in secret to establish a new research center on the [[Perune]] moon of [[Kasiya]], but progress had halted following the destruction of the [[starwars:Death_Star|Death Star]] and the death of Tarkin.

The primary focus then had shifted over to [[Chyron]] after the system's [[starwars:Governor|Governor]] became aware of what had been started there, and Port Kasiya went largely unused following military opposition to the use of the facilities built for top-secret information. The city was ignored however by the military, and development went on anyways unimpeded.

The city went on to exist alongside Chyron, though never gained as much clout or growth as it. Upon news of the Empire's fall and the death of [[starwars:Emperor|Emperor]] [[starwars:Sheev_Palpatine|Palpatine]], much of the Empire's strength on Chyron fell while influence collapsed entirely in Port Kasiya. Several criminal syndicates that had formed in the underbelly of the city began to surface and in a uniting action created the '''Arasaka Corporation''', using it's newfound strength to take control of the city and eliminate the Governor.

Since then, the Arasaka's have controlled Port Kasiya though the use of smaller gangs and held a firm grip on the city's production, import and exports, and development up through the current day.

=== The Six Districts ===
The city is broken up into six distinct districts, with the latter five of them controlled by an individual gang within that district. The first district, the City Center, is under the control of the Arasaka Corporation which controls the city as a whole and to whom the gangs have given allegiance. Since the arrival of [[Clan Taldryan]] in the [[Caelus System]], the balance of power in the city has greatly shifted and the gangs have become more emboldened to stand against Arasaka.

==== City Center ====
Considered the heart of Port Kasiya, the City Center is the core business and operations district for the city. It is located directly over the ocean, maintained by underwater pillars and levels which make ascertaining the true size of the City Center almost impossible. This district has two sub-districts, the Arasaka Waterfront and Arasaka Plaza. The central city headquarters is also housed here as well, the Arasaka Tower. In the event of a power outage that would affect the entire city, the City Center has several backup generator stations and redundant power failsafes that will keep the center both powered and online regardless of the status of the rest of the city. The Northwestern point of the city centre is the location for *The Playground*, a seedy bar run by Jorm Na'trej, and is described as;

Not the tallest in Port Kasiya, but it surpasses all others in the city's northwest. Basalt sidewalks smelling ever so slightly of brimstone underline a facade that's decrepit from the ground floor to a dozen stories up, then morphs into a modern steel-and-glass construct with a narrow landing platform extending an easy 300 metres high over the road. One has to crane one's head back quite far to see it, though, and one is more interested in stepping through the scratched but sturdy double doors which may be flanked by clients, bouncers, drunks, and duct-taped living warnings.

Seven shallow steps lead down onto the carefully dilapidated hardwood main bar floor, though "bar" might not be the right word anymore. Mismatched tables and chairs litter the room, while more comfortable niches with couches and two smaller sidebars occupy most of the walls.

On the left side, an extending stage with a pole leaves no doubt about the kind of entertainment provided here, while on the right, a discreet exit leads to rooms best suited for negotiations or private parties.

Straight ahead, between the wings of a formerly grand foyer staircase mostly frequented by pretty people with little clothing, resides the curved main counter as an island, with the dark niches in between leading to the back - but one cannot shake the feeling that entry comes with a price that might not be paid fully by coin.

The staff are unerringly smiling people with hard eyes, much like the owner. This bar, this whole building, is their domain, their trap and their hunting range.

One instantly realizes that any wish, any pleasure and desire, is just a word and a payment away.

One knows that this place is the antithesis to every value taught and preached among normal people.

One is greeted.

===== Taldryan Tower =====
At the heart of the City Center lies the
Taldryan Tower. Consisting of 72 floors above ground, and an unknown number of floors underwater, the tower is the primary headquarters for ''House Ektrosis'', ''Clan Taldryan'' as a whole, and the palisade of power for Port Kasiya in its entirety. It is also the most heavily guarded and fortified location within the city, having its own personal elite security force. Outside of what can be seen from the exterior, with its reflective windows and reinforced structure, and the main lobby antechamber, the details of the tower are largely unknown.

==== Holmes ====
The Holmes District is the current home of [[House Ektrosis]] located in the northwestern quadrant of Port Kasiya. While it is not as glamourous as the rest of the city, it has a very strong and lively night life and a bustling commercial shop district. Due to recent crime increases the '''Port Kasiya Police Force''', or '''PKPF''', conducts extremely regular patrols throughout the district.

On the northern edge of Holmes is a Podracing Track that extends into the cliffs above, down through Holmes itself and into an underwater track. It has the distinction of being one of the largest and most difficult tracks in the [[Starwars:Outer_Rim_Territories|Outer Rim Territories]], having hosted the Podracing Opening Round in 38 ABY. It is being widely considered to host the Grand Finals for the 39 ABY season.

Illegal activities include boxing clubs, mixed martial arts clubs, and an event supposedly called the ''Kumite'' though no one can confirm or deny it's existance.

==== Eastbrook ====
Eastbrook District is the northernmost district of Port Kasiya, nestled into the cliffside up to its summit. Various mansions exist throughout this district, as well as the personal homes of numerous Arasaka executives. It also has the last remaining speeder movie theater in the city. Because of the clientele that live in this area, it is patrolled by a special police unit that actively enforces the law and ensures only those who should be there are there. At its heart, it has a large fountain with a statue of a giant [[Starwars:Selkath|Selkath]], one of the original five founders of Port Kasiya.

The district is under the control of the Rancors gang, of which 90% of its membership consists of richer members of the Eastbrook society. It is less a gang as much as it is a symbol to flaunt, though with the amounts of money they control between them any incursions into Eastbrook were quickly put down by mercenaries and advanced weaponry/armor. Every year, the Rancors round up undesireables that had come into the district and various gang members who made inroads against them and celebrate the '''Running of the Rancor''' event where a group of four rancor chase them down a chasm north of the city, taking bets on which will survive and which will die to which rancor. This has become a favorite past time for both the Rancors, the residents of Eastbrook, and executives of the Arasaka Corporation.

==== Vista Del Rey ====
Vista Del Rey is the industrial section of the city located in the southeast, much similar to the industrial machination of Coruscant with its plumes of smoke and fires from the mining and smelting regions. Much of this district is made up of a large labor camp, which serves as the city's prison where workers and prisoners both are confined through the use of detonation collars and perimeter fields. Adjacent to the mining areas, Vista Del Rey also coordinates the majority of the imports and exports from the city with cross collaboration with Port Arasaka to send goods and merchandise off world. All local trading with other outposts and districts of Port Kasiya are done through Vista Del Rey directly.

The district is under the iron-fisted control of the Deckers gang, each of its membership acting as guards for the district and enforcers of Decker law in Vista Del Rey. Unlike other districts that follow the law and dictation of the Arasaka Corporation from the City Center, the Deckers follow their own laws but still steer clear of doing anything that directly opposes the Corporation as they do not wish to draw their ire. Donations are often made to the Arasakas however, to keep them off their back.

==== Arroyo ====
Nestled safely in the eastern cliffside, the Arroyo Power District is the technological hub for Port Kasiya and home of the '''Sixth Street Saints''', the protectors and keepers of the district. Nearly all of the city's power generation comes from this district, which consists of several layers both above ground, below ground, and underwater to support the massive amount of space and cooling needed for the generators and maintenance. In design, several developers from the former [[starwars:Techno_Union|Techno Union]] were brought in to assist. Because of this, the designs of the district became very complicated for most species to understand.

With the amount of upgrades and changes it has had over the decades as well, much of this district below ground is a sprawling labyrinth where many workers have ended up getting lost, never be found again, due to constant electromagnetic interference from the electrical systems. Because of this standard means of communications underground are virtually impossible. Rumors of an underground city have risen up over the years, but gone largely un-investigated.

==== Westwind ====
The sixth district, Westwind, is a lawless hive of scum and villainy controlled by the '''Moxx''' gang in the southern side of Port Kasiya. This is the only district that the Arasaka Corporation had largely been unable to gain control of over the decades, as no sooner than they gain control of it they quickly lost control piece by piece. Before long, the district was left mainly to its own devices so long as its influence did not spread into the rest of the city.

As it grew, Westwind came to be a place to go to when you wanted to get away from yourself. Brothels exist all over the district, as well as various drug bars and shops. Most visitors here are frowned upon, as outsiders are very disliked unless credits are spent. In those cases, outsiders are tolerated so long as their credit lines remained open. But once the credit lines ran out or closed, the demeanor of the district citizens became apparent that they were no longer welcome and if they valued their life, they should leave.

The Moxx gang consists of all female [[starwars:Twi'lek|Twi'lek's]], whom are all extremely [[starwars:Xenophobia|Xenophobic]] of any race except their own, and they oversee all operations within Westwind. Though the district is lawless, the final decisions are always honored when dictated by the Moxx.

One of the more bustling locations within the City Center, and diving sites that allows citizens to see the underwater depths of the Ocean and the majestic lights of the underwater portions of the City Center. Compared to the commercialization of the waters around Vista Del Rey, the Ektrosis Waterfront is purely recreational with water speeders and boats.

=== Eastbrook Estates ===
The Eastbrook Estates is a housing community created in the heart of Eastbrook, requiring a special keycard for entry and code cylinder for continuous access while being recognized by the many security systems in operation around the Estates. Loss of either one of these can result in either loss of access for the former, or a lethal automated security response by the latter.

=== The Colosseum ===
This giant Colosseum provides the entertainment aspect for the residents of the City Center and Eastbrook, purely those who can afford to attend its lucrative and expensive events. Generally, events here are civilian vs. slave or slave vs. slave, but sometimes the gangs will mix things up. Each year, a special event called the '''Running of the Rancor''' takes place where 500 slaves fill the bowl of the Colosseum and 10 rancors are released into the bowl. Victory is met either when only one slave is left standing, or all 10 rancor are killed. So far, none have killed all 10, and 16 slaves have ended up being promoted to Port Kasiya citizens for clearing this challenge.

=== Downtown City Center ===
Next to Eastbrook, the Downtown City Center is the heart of the rich and famous. Many film studios exist here, along with extremely expensive designer stores, speeder depots, starship stores, exclusive access clubs, high-rise condominiums and apartments, and much more all meant for the top 1% of the Port Kasiya elite. Numerous Arasaka Corporation executives also live in this area, costs covered by the corporation.

=== Cloudhaven ===
Cloudhaven was a mobile defensive platform that provided much of the aerial defense for Port Kasiya. It held its orbit in the mid Mesosphere, high enough that the sunlight on the moon's surface was not impeded by its location. The platform itself was relatively small, and operated entirely by modified HK Unit droids that coordinated its offensive and defensive capabilities.

Since its construction, [[Chyron]] has largely left Port Kasiya alone since it has proven extremely difficult to get past Cloudhaven. Following the War for Port Kasiya however, the platform was disabled and plummeted into Mount Arreat where it sits now. Due to magma flow underneath, the temperatures have provided a barrier preventing entry into it, and the activities within the plasma core have made the interior too toxic to traverse. Time will have to be given before any excursions into the ruins can be made.
